Midwest Championships

In winning their 12th Midwest Championship, DSHA high school, the all-girls high school team from Wisconsin, defeated Lakewood, Ohio 36-5 Sunday afternoon.

Interestingly, the Midwest Championship victory ended up being by a wider margin of victory than DSHA's State Championship battle with Kettle Moraine. In advancing to the MW final, DS also defeated an athletic Fox Chapel in the semifinals, something like 30-0 and a really good St Joseph's Academy in the quarterfinals by a similar score.

Kettle Moraine had a fine run as well, winning the third-place game against Fox Chapel 25-0. KM ran into some bad luck, as their captain and #7 went down with a bad ankle injury in the first few minutes of their first match on a very patchy and uneven pitch. Still, KM put in some excellent performances in defeating two different state champions in Traverse City and Fox Chapel. KM's semifinal against Lakewood was a good battle, with Lakewood pulling away late to advance.

In the second division championship, Brookfield and Catholic Memorial High School both put in dominating performances to advance to an all-Wisconsin final. CMHS won 10-0 in an outstanding back-and forth match.

After our field reporters check-in, we hope to post some pictures and official scores.
