Sunday's State Championship Tournament is just around the corner.  While we await official confirmation from league offices on the tie breaker between Oak Creek and Falls for the 5th place match against Brookfield, it appears everything else is set.  An unofficial perusal of the scores shows that Oak Creek probably has the edge; they scored more tries and were only shutout once.
(Update:  WGR officials have confirmed that Oak Creek will be the fifth seed in Sunday's playoff, based on the third tie breaker, points differential)

While it may appear a repeat of last year, in that the 1st and 3rd place matches feature the same matchups, the storylines are far more interesting than the same old reruns on tv.  In the title match, we have two teams who retooled themselves after losing 17 and 9 seniors, respectively and their teams flourished.  There will be a lot of exciting new faces on the field as they renew their great rivalry.  Changes in the DSHA coaching staff continue to bring new ideas and change to their program and the depth provided by a great JV team have made their game even more dynamic.  Memorial, too, looks to gain from the experience they've gained both last year and in the opportunity to play a top team in the country twice in the fall.

The 3rd place match features a resurgent Vernon team that will be looking to cap off a strong season with a medal finish. With a young team that struggled in a tough league last year, they've shown what sticking together as a team and perseverance can do.  Kettle Moraine is also looking to close out an emotional year, as it's their coach's last match after ten years with the program.  Battling low numbers all season, their success in this match might depend on how healthy they pulled out of their match with DS last week.
