Lots of rugby and 7's especially this weekend.
In addition to the WGR State 7's, DSHA is in Philadelphia for the College Rugby Championship (CRC) High School Challenge. Some have looked on this event as an unofficial 7's National HS Championship. After defeating Fallbrook last year, DSHA looks for their second consecutive title.
DSHA's matches begin Friday morning and conclude with the championship played in 18,000 seat PPL park during the Collegiate 7's Championshp on Sunday. Some teams competing will be all-star teams, like the NJ Blaze, while others are individual clubs or schools. There is little, if any, standard for many of the summer 7's tournaments and one wonders if it is time for separate divisions for all-star programs and another for teams. The CRC itself features college teams, not all-star teams.
You can catch the CRC Collegiate games on NBC this weekend, Saturday from 2-330pm and Sunday from 5-6pm. Check it out; the college games are just awesome to watch.
