Coaches Sought

 Dear Rugby Community;

There have been several inquiries made recently about starting girls high school rugby in various parts of Wisconsin.  It's been a reminder that the biggest challenge in getting kids to play rugby isn't finding kids who want to play, it's finding coaches to coach them.

In just the last two years, interest has been shown in the Waukesha school district, the Nicolet HS school district, Grafton, Germantown, the Racine Unified School District as well as in the Wausau area.

If there's any connections or interest in the wider community, please contact us: wisconsingirlsrugby@gmail.com

Wisconsin Girls Rugby actively helps fund training and provides support for new programs.

Girls High School Rugby National Tournament 2021

 Organizers announced today that holding a National Girls High School Tournament is not possible in 2021.  Instead, coaches and administrators are encouraging teams to focus on getting back to playing, whenever and however they may be able.

   The NGCC is also offering to help teams that were going to compete, to schedule regional competitions with other teams across state borders during the traditional national tournament weekend of May 15th-16th.

NGCC volunteers are working to connect teams in a series of regional matches in the spirit of keeping connections and competition and affording more experiences for girls players.

Contact the National Girls Coaches Committee if there's any interest in networking for regional matches:

Midwest Rugby 2021

 Midwest Youth Rugby has a new website:

https://mwyouthrugby.com/

The Midwest brings together youth participants in both girls and boys high school rugby for multiple events each year; expanding the opportunities for kids to play and for teams to gain experiences.

The Girls Midwest Championships are scheduled for April 24th, 2021 at the Moose Rugby Grounds and its three pristine natural grass pitches in Elkhart, Indiana.  Normally a two-day event, the tourney has been scaled back to one day so teams do not need to stay overnight.
